Custom Apparel Store Big Frog of Mequon’s Media Spotlight
For Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More of Mequon, running a small business is a family business. Husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Basil and Koretta Bearer opened the t-shirt printing retail franchise in Mequon to serve its local community’s custom apparel needs.
Specializing in Direct-to-Garment Printing but also offering other custom apparel decorating services like screen printing, embroidery and many others, Big Frog of Mequon is a unique retail concept that serves the needs of a wide range of customers. From a mom who needs a single birthday shirt to a small business owner needing custom uniforms for employees and organizations looking to start t-shirt fundraising for a good cause, Big Frog of Mequon can quickly and efficiently provide the custom apparel and accessories they need.
As a 100% locally owned and family-run business, the owner’s daughter, Brittany Miller, is also heavily involved in the business as the store manager. In a feature story published on ONMILWAUKEE.COM, she shares how fulfilling her work at Big Frog is, especially since it allows her to serve customers and meet the community.
“I honestly thought it was going to be more kitschy, one-off shirts all the time,” said Brittany, 31. “But at the end of the day, it was meeting the community and learning the community needs.”
And true to being a family-oriented small business, Big Frog allows Brittany, who is also a young mother, to juggle work and home life by bringing her son to the store on a few occasions. Of course, Basil, who enjoys showing his daughter Brittany the tricks of the trade, cherishes the fun moments of having his grandson in the store as well.
“This is more than just a job for me,” Brittany says. “Getting to be here with him and having those father-daughter moments has been really cool. When COVID hit and I had the ability to actually bring my son to work with me and take care of him – I love it. I have a place to bring him, and the customers love seeing him, which is really cute and sweet, too.”
