Small Business Leaves a Big Mark in Sugar Land’s Community
Locally owned and operated, Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More of Sugar Land is among the many small businesses that are leaving a big mark in the Sugar Land community.
Supporting Small Businesses
With a mission to help provide small business owners a platform to share their brand stories and journey as an entrepreneur, Big Frog of Sugar Land participated in the franchise’s “Shop Local All the Way
” marketing campaign. The six-month-long campaign featured Big Frog store owners and their small business owner guests in live streaming events
on Facebook and LinkedIn.
Big Frog of Sugar Land’s owner, King Banerjee, was featured live along with The House of Blooms
owners, Patrick & Patricia Houck. “Developing a sense of community, whether you do it with Big Frog owners that I have the benefit of leveraging or other small businesses in the community, those relationships matter. They are not only your friends but they are your coaches, and you are experiencing the same things, so leveraging that is critical,” says King.
Owning a Business
King’s story of entrepreneurship is truly the story of the American dream. He is the son of immigrants who left India to migrate, first to Canada, then later to the U.S., for a better life. He tells a story of how his father, a geophysicist by profession bravely immigrated in 1970 with $6 in his pocket to give his family a better life.
Like his father, King had the courage to take a leap of faith when life presented him with an opportunity. He left his corporate life in sales, explored franchise opportunities
, and opened his own Big Frog store.
“Anytime you go into business, people will tell you it’s hard. It’s hard, no question about it, but it also comes with a ton of rewards,” says King, who finds serving his community a truly rewarding experience. A servant-leader, King actively sits on the Executive Board and currently serves as Chair-elect at the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce
Small Business Insights Feature
For the many services he has given to the Fort Bend and Sugar Land community, King was featured on a local podcast called Small Business Insights
. He spoke personally about his journey of owning a Big Frog store, his commitment to connecting with his community, and the valuable business lessons he has learned along the way, especially when it comes to meeting his customers’ needs.
“You don’t sell with your mouth, you sell with your ears,” says King, an important sales lesson he keeps in mind more than ever. “It’s not about selling them everything in my toolbox. It’s about listening to what they need.”
