Are you looking to create the perfect custom T-shirt?

Big Frog has great designers and tips to help you create fantastic designs!

T-shirts are supposed to be comfy and casual. But it takes a little strategy to make something look so perfectly simple.

Think About Colors

When it comes to T-shirts, colors sell. Design is secondary. One of the first things people notice is the color of a T-shirt, so make sure it appeals to its intended audience. Also, make sure the color connects with your purpose. If you’re creating a T-shirt for a school or club, consider using a school color for the T-shirt itself. If you’re designing for a company retreat, the shirt could either be one of the corporate brand’s colors or a color of the retreat theme. And if you’re planning to provide T-shirts at a family reunion, consider a color that connects with your family or the location of the event, or let members vote for their favorite.

Check Out Design Trends

Before you start creating, check out current design trends so your custom T-shirt will look up to date (although vintage looks are very hot right now, also!). If you look at popular T-shirt designs, you’ll notice the fonts, messaging, graphics and even the size of images go in and out of style. Lean toward trendy and fun when you can!

Consider Fonts

No matter what your purpose, it’s best to utilize a clean, easy-to-read font. Also consider that it needs to match your message. For example, if you are working on a funny T-shirt design, you can use a fun or playful font. If you’re designing a corporate T-shirt, lean toward a classic font.

Pick a Printing Method

The T-shirt printing method is important, especially if you choose a dark-colored shirt. For darker colors, you probably will want direct to garment (DTG) printing or screen printing on 100% cotton fabric. Many Big Frog locations offer screen printing and even embroidery. We have a great selection of T-shirts and other printable accessories, so visit our store location for help choosing the right garment for you and your group.
